WHAT DO POLES REALLY THINK ABOUT MUSLIMS IN 2025?

Yo Poznan!

Let’s be real—Poland’s got opinions. Ask five Poles about politics, pierogi fillings, or parking fines, and you’ll get ten different answers. But one topic that’s been simmering for years, hotter than a kebab stand at 2 a.m., is what Poles really think about Muslims.

Back in the day (we’re talking 2018), surveys like the Ipsos Perils of Perception showed that Poles wildly overestimated how many Muslims actually live here. People thought there were millions, when the real number was closer to a small football stadium’s worth—around 35,000 out of 38 million. Math clearly wasn’t invited to that conversation.

2025

Fast forward to 2025. Poland hasn’t exactly been flooded by waves of Muslim migrants, and the “Muslim takeover” some folks were shouting about? Yeah, still hasn’t happened. What has happened, though, is a slow but steady shift in perspective—especially among younger Poles who’ve grown up scrolling TikTok, traveling, and realizing that diversity doesn’t actually bite.

Now, speaking as a foreigner who’s lived here for over 20 years and calls Poland home, here’s something I’ve noticed again and again when chatting with locals over beers or bus rides: Poles aren’t against immigration—they’re against chaos. They’ll tell you straight up that as long as immigration is legal, organized, and fair, they’ve got no problem with it. What they don’t want is the mess, the smuggling, or being told by others how to manage their borders. It’s not hate—it’s that deep-seated Polish sense of control and order that runs as strong as their coffee.

Don’t get us wrong—Islamophobia hasn’t disappeared in a puff of smoke. Hate crimes, online trolling, and the usual political scare tactics still pop up like unwanted spam emails. But something’s changing on the streets. You see Muslim-owned cafés, street food spots, and student groups doing their thing, blending into the city buzz without much fuss. Turns out, when you replace fear with falafel, people chill out a bit.

Keeping it 100

The real story of 2025? Poles are slowly catching on that Muslims aren’t an “invasion.” They’re part of the same neighborhood. The people running food trucks, studying at universities, working in hospitals, and paying the same ridiculous energy bills as everyone else.

Poland is also lucky—it’s had the hindsight to watch how Europe’s open-border experiment played out. The lesson? Compassion and control need to share the same table. Too much of one and things get messy; too little and walls go up fast.

Polands Strength

So maybe that’s where Poland’s real strength lies—in learning from others’ mistakes, keeping its borders sensible, and still leaving room for flavor, culture, and connection to mix in the pot.

And maybe that’s the kind of progress Poland needs right now—less fear, more flavor. Because as long as it stays balanced and controlled, Poland could end up being one of Europe’s best blends yet.
