Thousands of Glowing Lanterns Are About to Take Over Malta and It Might Be Poznań’s Most Beautiful Night of 2026

Look, we’re not saying every summer event in Poznań is the same…

But after your fifth food truck burger, third overpriced lemonade, and seventeenth person trying to sell you handmade candles, things can start feeling a little familiar.

The Water Lantern Festival (Festiwal Latarni Wodnych) is different.

On June 20, 2026, Malta will swap its usual evening joggers, cyclists, and people pretending they’re definitely going to start exercising tomorrow, for something far more magical.

We’re talking about thousands of glowing lanterns floating across the water, turning Malta into a scene that looks like Disney, a dream sequence, and your camera roll’s future profile picture all rolled into one.

And yes, it’s every bit as beautiful as it sounds.

Malta Is About To Glow Up

The festival lands at POSiR Malta, ul. Wiankowa 3, bringing together families, couples, friend groups, and probably at least one person who came “just to take photos” and accidentally ended up having an emotional life-changing experience.

As the sun dips below the horizon and darkness settles over the lake, participants will release floating lanterns onto the water.

The result?

A shimmering ocean of lights stretching across Malta.

It’s peaceful. It’s stunning. It’s romantic.

It’s also one of the few times in life when staring at a body of water for an hour is considered productive.

Food, Music, Good Vibes & A Whole Lot Of Lanterns

The gates open at 17:30, giving everyone plenty of time to grab food, chill with friends, enjoy the music, and soak up the atmosphere before the main event begins.

Event Details

POSiR Malta, ul. Wiankowa 3, Poznań

June 20, 2026

Opening Hours:
• Gates Open – 17:30

• Lantern Release – After sunset when it gets dark enough

• Event Ends – 23:00

Basically, you’ve got several hours to eat, wander around, take questionable amounts of photos, and prepare for one seriously unforgettable moment.

What’s Included In Your Ticket?

No need to bring your own lantern and accidentally set your kitchen décor afloat.

Every ticket includes:

A floating lantern

A tealight candle

A marker pen to write your message

Festival wristband and full event access

Even better, part of every ticket helps fund the environmentally responsible collection of all lanterns after the event, along with cleaning existing litter from the festival area.

So while you’re making memories, the organizers are helping keep Malta beautiful too.

Grab Your Tickets Before Everyone Else Does

We cover a lot of events at Poznań Daily.

Fast cars.

Concerts.

Food festivals.

Nightlife.

Motorcycles.

The occasional thing involving someone doing something they definitely shouldn’t be doing.

But this?

This might genuinely be one of the most beautiful events we’ll see all year.

So round up your friends, bring your family, grab your partner, or show up solo and make some new memories.

We’ll be there.

Probably taking way too many photos.

See you at Malta on June 20!

  1. One of the more thoughtful posts I have read recently on this topic, and a stop at thisdomainisabdu added even more weight to that impression, this is genuinely good content that holds its own against far better known sites in the same space without trying to imitate any of them at all which I appreciate.

  2. Genuinely good work, the kind that holds up over multiple readings without losing its appeal, and a stop at tasseltract kept that going, definitely a site I will be returning to and probably mentioning to others who work in or care about this particular area of interest today and in coming weeks.

  3. A memorable post for me on a topic I had thought I was tired of, and a look at stridertorch suggested the same site can refresh other tired topics, sites that can revive my interest in subjects I had written off as exhausted are doing rare work and this one is clearly doing that for me today.

  4. A clean piece that knew exactly what it wanted to say and said it, and a look at siskatrance maintained the same clarity of intention, knowing the goal of a piece before writing is something most blog content lacks and the clarity of purpose here shows up in every paragraph for any careful reader to notice.

  5. Worth marking this site as one to come back to deliberately rather than by accident, and a stop at tweedvolume reinforced that intention, the difference between sites I find again by chance and sites I return to on purpose is meaningful and this one has clearly moved into the deliberate return category for me.

  6. Reading this confirmed a small detail I had been uncertain about, and a stop at vesseltame provided the source for further checking, content that supports verification through citations or links rather than just asserting facts is more trustworthy and this site has clearly built its credibility through that kind of verifiable approach consistently.

  7. A piece that did exactly what it promised in the headline without overshooting or underdelivering, and a look at singersorbet continued that calibration, alignment between promise and delivery is a basic editorial virtue that many sites fail at and this site has clearly mastered the matching of expectation and substance throughout pieces.

  8. Now noticing that the post benefited from being neither too short nor too long for its content, and a look at swansignal continued that calibration of length, sites that match length to content rather than padding to hit some target are sites that respect both their material and their readers and this site does both.

  9. Probably going to mention this site in a write up I am working on later this month, and a stop at waferturtle provided more material for that potential mention, content worth referencing in my own published work rather than just personal reading is content with the highest endorsement level and this site has earned that endorsement.

  10. Found the section structure particularly thoughtful, and a stop at starlitvixen suggested the same care across the broader site, structural choices guide the reader through the material in ways most people do not consciously notice but feel the absence of when those choices are made carelessly or not at all.

  11. Honestly this was the highlight of my reading queue today, and a look at trenchtwist extended that across more pages I will return to, ranking what I read against what else I read each day is something I do informally and this site keeps moving up in those rankings the more I explore it.

  12. Reading this as part of my evening winding down routine fit perfectly, and a stop at slackvista extended the wind down nicely, content that calms rather than agitates is what I want at the end of the day and this site provides that calming reading experience reliably which is increasingly rare across the modern web.
