The Tasting Room

The Lowdown

If you’re strolling around Jeżyce, you might just miss this spot if you’re not looking. Tucked away on the corner of Adama Asnyka 1, The Tasting Room blends right into the vibe of the neighborhood—but trust us, this place is worth finding. Originally launched in February 2016 on Wąska Street, this spot started as a cozy wine tasting room, hosting workshops, courses, and industry trainings. But fast forward a few years, and now it’s a full-fledged wine haven—part shop, part tasting room, and all about the love for quality wines.

The Boss

Run by Maciej, a wine enthusiast turned sommelier with some serious credentials under his belt, The Tasting Room has evolved with the needs of its loyal guests. Maciej’s journey into the world of wine started back in 2004 as a student, working at the old-school Poznan Wine and Alcohol Cellar. Thanks to his boss, Zbigniew Pakuła (also the editor-in-chief of Świat Win magazine),

Maciej soaked up knowledge and fell hard for the wine game. He even finished his studies with a master’s thesis on the subject. After years working as a waiter, wine shop manager, and then crushing it as a pro sommelier—becoming a 4-time podium finisher in the Polish Sommelier Championships—Maciej decided to open his own space. And just like that, The Tasting Room was born.

The Change

The Tasting Room didn’t just stay small-time though. In August 2019, Maciej teamed up with a friend to launch Poniente, a wine importing company that focuses on bringing in top-tier bottles from Germany, Spain, France, and Austria. Their wines come from small producers, mostly from organic vineyards, where quality is king. Today, you’ll find around 250 different wines on offer, with a strong focus on Maciej’s personal selection. The best part? You’re not just browsing—you can experience these bottles up close with their tasting workshops.

The Workshops

Those tasting workshops? They’re hot tickets. People book out about a month in advance, so don’t sleep on it if you want a spot at the table. Whether you’re a wine newbie or a seasoned enthusiast, these events are the real deal. And with wines this unique, you’re bound to find something that’s gonna blow your mind.

So, when you are craving something original to do, make your way to The Tasting Room. The street might be chill, but the wines inside are anything but. Pro tip: Keep an eye on their wine tasting nights—they fill up fast. Watch here. Hit them up early and book yourself a seat to experience the best wines Maciej has to offer.
