Probably the best breakfast in the Poznan Old Town!

On the lookout always for the best breakfast in the Poznan Old Town we turned to MO.BAR. We had heard whispers about MO.BAR’s breakfasts being among the best in town, so we decided to drop by and see if they lived up to the hype. A good breakfast is becoming increasingly hard to find in the Old Town, but we were hopeful that MO.BAR would change our minds.

Great chat with Bartek about his menu

Upon arrival, we met with owner Bartek, who has a wealth of experience in the kitchen. After some discussion, we decided to try four of their standout breakfast options. First up were the SHRIMP ROLLS, priced at 38 PLN. These rolls feature homemade buttery buns filled with egg paste, fried shrimp, lettuce, and chives, accompanied by half a caramelized orange. The combination of the savory shrimp and egg paste with the sweetness of the caramelized orange created a delightful explosion of flavors that justified the price, especially in light of recent inflation.

Next, we indulged in the CREPES SUZETTE for 32 PLN. These French pancakes, drenched in a luscious caramel orange sauce and topped with white Chantilly cream, were a harmonious blend of sweet and citrusy flavors. The rich, creamy Chantilly balanced perfectly with the tangy orange, making every bite a pleasure.

Next, we couldn’t resist trying a dish close to my English roots: the Hash Brown with Poached Eggs, Chorizo Jam, Fennel Salad, and Sour Cream. This twist on the classic English breakfast features crispy hash browns paired with creamy poached eggs, spicy chorizo jam, refreshing fennel salad, and tangy sour cream. Each bite is a delightful blend of flavors and textures that will satisfy any breakfast lover.

The hash browns served were expertly cooked to golden perfection, providing a crunchy contrast to the creamy poached eggs. The eggs, cooked to just the right level of doneness, oozed velvety yolk when cut into, adding a luxurious richness to every bite.

Lastly, we tried my personal favorite, the Challah, for 34 PLN. This dish featured home-baked challah bread with rhubarb and hibiscus jam, Chantilly cream, fresh grapefruit, and white chocolate crumble on the side. The combination of the slightly tart rhubarb and hibiscus jam with the creamy Chantilly, the freshness of the grapefruit, and the sweet crunch of the white chocolate crumble offered a complex and satisfying flavor profile. Delicious!

To complement our meal, we highly recommend their refreshing Mimosa, made with prosecco and orange juice, for 18 PLN. For coffee enthusiasts, their latte also hit the spot, providing a perfect balance of richness and smoothness.

In conclusion, MO.BAR is a must-visit spot in Poznań’s Old Town. The quality of the food, combined with fair pricing, is a rare find these days. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, MO.BAR promises a memorable breakfast experience. While they may not open until 10 am, the wait is undoubtedly worth it.
