You know how it goes — first it happens in America, then a couple of years later it pops up here. Pumpkin spice lattes, TikTok dances, and now… campus cops. Yep, starting September 1st, the Poznań University of Technology is rolling out its very own Academic Guard — a 40-person unit in sharp uniforms, scooters, and enough surveillance gear to make Batman jealous.

The mission? Keep the campus safe, friendly, and (we’re guessing) slightly more dramatic than it was yesterday. Think: patrolling the grounds 24/7, teaming up with emergency services, handling “problematic situations” (whatever that means), and guarding events so no one sneaks in with a fake student ID.
And they’re not just strolling around with flashlights either. These guards have:
- 3 gates for detecting “dangerous objects” (yes, you’re basically going through airport security to get to class now).
- 4 hand-held metal detectors — perfect for spotting that rogue fork you “accidentally” stole from the canteen.
- Scooters (because nothing says authority like rolling up at 15 km/h).
- And of course… 700 cameras watching your every move. Big Brother? More like Big Dean.

The squad, led by a commander, is basically PUT’s own mini police department. The university says it’s a “modern and comprehensive security system” and one of the first of its kind in Poland. Translation: they’re bringing the American campus security vibe straight to Poznań. And let’s be real: this is America trickling down in its purest form.

First it’s campus cops… what’s next? SWAT teams storming lecture halls when someone forgets to mute their phone? Or maybe campus football games with marching bands? What do you think? Is this a good thing or overkill?
