Meet the IT Girls Who Turn Clay Into Therapy

Tucked away in the heart of Wilda, one of Poznań’s coolest up-and-coming ‘hoods, Glanc Studio started as a chill side hustle by Kasia and Olga (two techies turned creative rebels). It has become a go-to hangout for anyone looking to swap screen time for clay time. We wanted to find out more…

The Interview

So, real talk – what made you ditch the IT world and jump into pottery?
Plot twist: we didn’t ditch it. Glanc Studio is our after-hours side quest. Think of it as our creative escape pod. We built this spot for ourselves to vibe, unwind, and disconnect from the screen. But it’s open for anyone who needs to get their hands dirty and their minds chilled. Shoutout to our regulars – y’all are the real MVPs.

Has running Glanc Studio flipped your daily routine? Or is it just a better kind of chaos?
Totally flipped. One minute we’re deep in code and pixels, the next we’re wrist-deep in clay. It’s like switching from 5G to full zen mode. Sure, the studio takes hustle – but it’s a kind of hustle that feeds the soul. Real hands-on satisfaction. No Slack messages, just slap-that-clay energy.

How did the two of you link up and decide, “Hey, let’s open a pottery spot”?
We met working at the same company. Bonded over tech stuff, then started hitting up pottery classes together. That’s when it clicked – why not make our own little creative bunker? A place for people like us who wanna chill, create, and leave the 9-to-5 grind at the door.

Okay, dream student time: which celeb would you teach pottery to, and how would it go down?
Pablo Picasso, hands down. Imagine him sculpting something wild with extra noses and offbeat ears and calling it “intentional chaos.” Would it be genius? Would it be cursed? Doesn’t matter – someone would hang it in MoMA and call it revolutionary.

What’s the best part of teaching people how to throw down on the wheel?
That magic moment when they see their glazed piece for the first time. Eyes light up. They’re like, “Yo, I actually made this?” Pride levels through the roof – and we feel it too. It’s the good kind of addiction.

What freaks out beginners the most? And how do you chill them out?
Most people walk in like clay is a bomb – scared to mess up. But we tell them: yo, relax. It’s just mud with dreams. Play with it. We’re here to guide and make sure things don’t fall apart, but this ain’t a perfection contest. It’s therapy with texture.

Be honest… ever had a total clay-tastrophe? Like, smashed pieces or lava-glaze disasters?
No epic fails (yet), but glaze has a mind of its own. Sometimes it drips and sticks to the kiln shelf like an overexcited toddler. If that happens, we just invite folks back for a redemption round – no blame game. You came here for joy, and that’s what you’re gonna leave with.

Pottery’s all about that slow vibe. How do you bring the chill during your workshops?
Small groups, good tunes, zero pressure. We watch the vibe and jump in when someone needs help, but we’re not breathing down anyone’s neck. Everyone’s got their own pace – and we respect that.

You’ve got that 6-session pass – how do you keep it fresh for your regulars?
We level them up with new challenges each week. Different glazes, new forms, tricky shapes. It’s like a video game for your inner artist. Everyone’s on their own journey, but we make sure the road is fun.

Thanks for speaking with me today. I have just one final question…Ever had someone walk in, touch clay for the first time, and instantly outshine you? How does that feel?
Oh yeah. We’ve had some silent assassins roll through – people with hands blessed by the pottery gods. Their stuff is museum-grade. And yeah… we get a little jelly. Running a studio means we don’t get to play as much. One day, we’ll get back to it. Maybe.

Glanc Studio: where stress melts, clay spins, and everyone gets a little muddy in the best way.
