Italian restaurants in Poznan owned by Italians PART 1

Italian food is everywhere in Poznań. If you counted you could probably find at least 50 restaurants serving pizza and pasta. What makes this list so short and different is that the restaurants below are actually Italian restaurants in Poznan owned by Italians. For this reason, expect to be served authentic Italian food that will blow your mind!

Marino Bistrot

One of our favorite bistros in Poznan is Marino Bistrot which is located on Poznanska 50 Street in the heart of Poznan in the well-known culinary haven district of Jezyce. Run by Livio Marino and his son Jakub by his side, Marion Bistrot has quickly become a hit with the locals serving some of the best Italian food in Poznan.

When it comes to the menu at Marino Bistrot, they primarily serve dishes with fresh seafood, as befits the region of Liguria whose Mediterranean coastline is known as the Italian Riviera. The menu includes dishes such as Spaghetti Riviera, which is homemade spaghetti pasta with mulmi, mussels, calamari, and shrimp in a sauce with white wine, usually served with Ligurian Vermentino or Garganega wine from the Veneto region. Their Ragu is also a must-try! We recommend though their CHITARRA NERA DELLA RIVIERA LIGURE, it is a cuttlefish-colored pasta with mullets, shrimp, squid, and clams in their own spicy sauce and wine. Absolutely delicious!

Smak Italy

Szyperska 3, Old town

The owner at Smak Italy is not Italian but she lived in Sardinia for more than half of her life. Also, her husband is Italian so this qualifies them on this exclusive list!

Authentic food is guaranteed at Smak Italy, but expect something different here. Sardinian traditions are used to prepare almost every dish here from the ingredients to how the food is prepared. You will also find some local Sardinian favorites such as Culurgiones which is a traditional dish of Ogliastra, a region situated in Sardinia. Ask them also about their Gnocchi in a creamy cream sauce with gorgonzola and walnuts. Delicious!

The pizza here is different also. Expect long rectangle-shaped pizzas which was an idea the owners took back from their favorite restaurant in Sardinia. Even the dough is prepared the Sardinian way!

Amici Miei

Rybaki 24/25, Old town

Italian-owned, you can feel the atmosphere of the restaurant after crossing its threshold. It’s one of the most expensive restaurants on this list but it’s not just about the food here. This feels like a place where you should take time and socialize with the many Italians who eat here.

Get ready for an Italian-style feast – this is not fast food. People eat here for 3 hours which is the Italian way! You will always find co-owner Ricardo sipping on a glass of wine or topping up on his espresso fix in their garden located in front of the restaurant. Great food and great service! We have to recommend LA VOCE DEL MARE which is an incredibly rich platter full of unforgettable flavors straight from the sea! Shrimp and squid skewers, baked mussels, prawns, squid and sprats in tempura, grilled cod fillet, mussels soute, sea salad, shrimp and avocado cocktail, anchovy panini, and lobster Catalan style. Perfect 4 people!

Imaginarium

Pl. Bernardyński 1, Old town

Imaginarium is owned by Mirko who adds his incredible personality to every dish he prepares. Recently relocated to a more prominent place in Plac Bernardinski they have grown from strength to strength.

Simple things like every plate being a different color all add to the authenticity of Imaginarium and like the other restaurants on this list, it feels homely and cozy — as if the place is an extension of his home.

He does some wonderful things with a pizza such as the Catamarano for example. It gets its name from the catamaran boat. That’s why they call this place Imaginarium which is taken from the word Imagination.

Pinco Pallino

In November 2019, Pinco Pallino expanded and moved to 24 Wroniecka Street. We are so pleased that the restaurant has expanded. Every small and big advantage of Pinco Pallino is a result of the hard work of chef Margherita Kardaś and her team.

Her energy, knowledge, experience, and passion create something unique. Pinco Pallino’s cuisine is extremely tasty, and the moment you manage to combine eating the specialties served here with meeting Margherita will create an amazing experience. Look out for their rectangle pizzas and romantic gardens in the warmer months.
