Hold on to your wallets, folks. A parish priest at St. Roch’s in Poznań is asking for a whopping 30,000 PLN to buy… wait for it… another soundproof confessional box.

Yep. You read that right. The church already has one soundproof booth, but apparently, Father Piotr Garstecki thinks it’s not enough. His pitch? “We provide a sense of security and confidentiality that allows for an even more complete experience of this sacrament.”

Sure, Father. But 30k? Really?

Can We Talk About Priorities Here?

Here’s a thought: how about soundproofing one of the older ones you already own? Or even better — maybe throw the question to your parishioners:

• Any carpenters in the crowd?
• Any handymen, builders, DIY legends?

Chances are, someone could do the job for, what… 5,000 PLN tops? And the money would actually stay in the community instead of vanishing into a holy IKEA project.

But hey, when it’s not your own money, it’s easy to dream big, right?

The Official Story

The fundraiser is live on Siepomaga, a fundraising site. The priest says the current soundproof box is “very popular,” especially with older churchgoers, and insists this second one is an “investment in spiritual security.” Out of the 30,000 PLN goal, they’ve managed to scrape together 2,500 PLN so far.

He even adds: “Every donation – regardless of the size – is a small contribution that brings us closer to completing this necessary work.”

Translation: dig deep, people.

But Let’s Be Honest…

Most folks don’t need a gold-plated, NASA-grade silence chamber to confess that they snapped at their neighbor or ate meat on a Friday. A little insulation, a few acoustic panels, and boom — problem solved.

Instead, we’re looking at a high-end project with a price tag that could buy you a small car or pay for an entire semester abroad. Or how about feed the homeless for months!

Our Take

If you ask us? This feels less like “investment in spiritual security” and more like “holy overspending.” Want a truly divine solution? Ask your community for skills, not just cash. After all, what’s more Christian than teamwork, trust, and keeping things local?

And seriously… 30,000 PLN for a box? That’s a confession in itself.
