The Lowdown
American muscle cars have always had a strange grip on the European imagination. You either love them—the roar, the size, the unapologetic presence—or you roll your eyes and say, “it only drives in a straight line.” But love it or hate it, one thing’s clear: muscle cars are showing up more and more on Poznań’s streets. Even a few of you—our loyal readers—have asked us: “Yo, know any good American garages around here?”
So, we did what we do best. We went digging. And when we stumbled across a place called American Racing Garage, the name alone had us hyped. Even better? It’s just 10 minutes from the Poznań Daily office. We reached out, rolled up, and met the guy behind the madness:
Sebastian—the owner, wrench wizard, and full-blown American muscle addict, kindly opened up his garage doors.

Turns out, he’s not just servicing, repairing and tuning these beasts—he’s involved in importing them, restoring them, and helping fuel a full-blown Detroit invasion in Poland. We asked him everything—from his first car to his dream ride, the craziest customer requests, and how many burgers it takes to survive a day in the garage.
Let’s get into it.
So, what was your very first car?
It was a Golf MK2, man. Classic. I ended up giving it to my younger brother—passing down the family ride like a proper older sibling.
And what are you driving now?
Right now I’ve got a 2015 Dodge Charger with a 6.4L engine. That thing ROARS.

Any mods on it yet?
Of course, hahaha! What kind of American car guy would I be if I left it stock?
Where did your love for American cars come from?
I grew up in Rybnik, and on my way to school every day I’d walk past this dealership that had a Mustang in the window. It was love at first sight. And let’s be honest—American cars are movie stars. Seeing them on the big screen made them feel mythical.
When did you really get into working on them?
It all started with my first Mustang. I was constantly under the hood, tweaking, tuning, learning everything I could. Eventually, my friends started asking me to work on their cars. That’s when it really clicked.
So you went from hobbyist to pro?
Exactly. I had a corporate job after university—it paid the bills but drove me nuts. I knew deep down I wanted to do this full time. Now I wake up every day and do what I love. It’s not work. It’s pure pleasure.
What kind of work do you do most here?
Mainly modern American cars—service, maintenance, and getting more power (aka tuning). My electrical skills come in clutch there. Around 20% of what I do is classic restorations.

What’s the most common car you work on?
Corvettes, hands down. They’re becoming more popular in Poland, and honestly, they’re perfect for tuning.

Most ridiculous request from a customer?
A client once asked for a train horn—full air compressor setup in the trunk. That car literally SCREAMS now.
Sounds like Fast & Furious stuff. Is it really that wild here?
Haha, not exactly. It’s not as glamorous as it sounds, but hey—it gets fun.

What’s the biggest myth about American cars in Poland?
People still say they’re only good in a straight line because of the soft suspension. That may have been true in the past, but modern American cars? They handle way better now.
What’s the hardest part of importing cars from the US?
The paperwork can be tricky. That’s where people need support
What’s the craziest project you’re working on now?
I’m currently upgrading a 1979 Corvette C3. I dropped in a 2005 engine, and now I’m updating it with more modern comforts—basically giving it a full glow-up.
Have you seen interest in American cars grow in Poland?
Definitely. People have more money now compared to 20 years ago, so they buy their everyday car and have a muscle car on the side for fun.
And how much do I need to cop a Corvette?
You can find a 2005 Corvette for around 80k – 100k PLN. The latest C8s? They start at 250k – 300 PLN.

If someone gave you an old Fiat Panda, what would you change?
Maybe a fancy paint job. Gotta shine before you roar.
What do you think makes someone a true petrolhead?
An attitude, and then… being broke, hahaha. Mod life isn’t cheap.

Fastest car you’ve worked on?
A 2008 Shelby with a 5.4L engine. I fitted a much larger supercharger and it’s pushing over 700 horsepower. Tuning it now—it’s a beast.
Dream car?
Easy. The John Wick ‘69 Mustang. That thing’s legendary.
Go-to snack in the garage?
Burgers. No explanation needed.
One tip for new American car owners in Poland?
Change your exhaust. You’ll thank me later.

One final question…Do muscle cars help with the ladies?
Hahaha! I wouldn’t know… I’m married. 😉 But hey, it probably doesn’t hurt!
