Review at Lontra Pizza: The New Slice of Cool on 27 Grudnia Street

The Lowdown

Poznań’s hottest new pizza spot, Lontra Pizza, just threw open its doors this August, and it’s already making waves in the city’s most up-and-coming neighborhood. Situated right across from the iconic Okrąglak building on 27 Grudnia Street, this joint is more than just a pizzeria—it’s a trailblazer in a rapidly evolving part of town. With more new places popping up soon, Lontra Pizza is setting the bar high and paving the way for what’s to come.

Lontra Pizza is the brainchild of Kamil and Serhij, the dynamic duo behind the beloved Oldskulowa Café, just around the corner. We caught up with them a few weeks back while they were fine-tuning their pizza recipes, and we couldn’t wait to see what made the final cut. Their mission? Keep it simple, max out at five ingredients, and focus on flavor. The result is a menu that’s as refined as it is delicious.

The Chow

Forget the Neapolitan trend—Lontra Pizza is all about bringing it back to basics with a hybrid style that’s super thin, with crusts you actually want to eat. The base is coated with larger-than-usual semolina granules, giving it a structure that holds up perfectly.

The massive, puffy crusts? Gone. Instead, you get a crisp rim that adds to the overall experience rather than just being an afterthought. This is pizza like it used to be—no frills, just flavor.

The menu is split into red, white, and even yellow pizzas. That’s right, yellow—like their Fiori Di Ricotta, featuring yellow tomatoes that are sweeter, milder, and less acidic than your typical reds. They’ve also got a couple of vegan options for those keeping it plant-based. We are told there will be an English version in a couple of days.

Top Picks

The Red

We couldn’t resist ordering the Oldsculova pizza from the red section for 49 PLN. It’s a nod to their café down the road, topped with San Marzano tomatoes, mozzarella, nduja, figs, red onions, and fresh rosemary. The flavor combo? Mind-blowing. The sweetness of the figs played perfectly against the spicy nduja, with the rosemary adding an aromatic punch that tied it all together. Simplicity at its finest, and an absolute must-try.

The White

Next up, we dove into the white pizza territory with the Cacio e Uova for 47 PLN. This one’s all about indulgence—creamy carbonara sauce, rich guanciale, a ton of cheese, black pepper, and two freshly cracked egg yolks. If you’re into white pizzas, this is mandatory. The sauce was velvety, the guanciale brought that perfect hit of saltiness, and the egg yolks added a luxurious texture that made each bite a little slice of heaven.

The Oils

Don’t sleep on the olive oils, either. They’ve got four or five varieties, including Lemon, Chili, Classic, and our personal favorite, Truffle. The truffle oil drizzled over the Cacio e Uova? Unreal. The chili oil added just the right kick to the Oldskulowa, too.

The Liquid

We also tried the Elderflower lemonade, which comes highly recommended. It was a refreshing, floral burst of flavor—perfect for cutting through the richness of the pizzas. For something Italian try the Sanpellegrino Chino that is the ultimate grown-up orange soda. It’s made from the chinotto, a small, bitter variety of orange that’s cultivated in southern Italy and Sicily. As well as bittersweet orange flavours, the sparkling Chino has aromas of cinnamon, cloves and allspice. Delicious!

Keeping it real

Lontra Pizza is dripping with style, from the antique furniture piece serving as the bar—a nod to their Oldskulowa roots—to the friendly, knowledgeable staff who make you feel right at home. The service was quick, even though our pizzas were made on demand, and honestly, we couldn’t find a single thing to fault. If we had to find something—like, gun-to-our-head level—we’d say maybe the tables outside could be a bit bigger. But really, that’s just us being picky.

The New Vibe

Lontra Pizza’s barely been open a hot minute, and it’s already stealing the spotlight. We’re hyped to watch this part of town blow up, and trust us, we’ll be back for more slices soon. Haven’t checked it out yet? Seriously, what are you waiting for? Lontra Pizza is the new vibe on 27 Grudnia Street.
