Poznań Daily Kicks Off Epic Sushi Hunt – Rataje Takes the First Win!

The mission

Poznań Daily is on a mission! We’re diving deep into the city’s sushi scene, one district at a time, to find the best sushi spots in town. Over the next few weeks, we’re rolling up our sleeves, testing sushi from all corners of Poznań, and ranking our faves to bring you the ultimate Top 10 Sushi Restaurants in Poznań. Spoiler alert: the bar’s high, and we’re up for the challenge.

1,2,3 Go

This week, we kicked things off in Rataje, and after hitting up a few solid sushi joints, one name stood out – Bento Sushi. Tucked away in the neighborhood of Osiedle Orła Białego 71a, this local spot has been serving up sushi with heart and soul, catering to the thousands of locals nearby. Too lazy to leave the house? No worries, they’ve got a delivery service too.

Now, Bento Sushi isn’t your average sushi joint. It’s got an upscale, romantic vibe that makes it perfect for date night. The service? Friendly and chill. The owners? Absolutely obsessed with all things Japanese, which is exactly the energy you want in a sushi spot. We met briefly with co-owner Mateusz to get the lowdown…

the dream

Bento Sushi was born out of the dream of two friends, Mateusz, a sushi master with over 10 years of experience, and Wojciech, the business brain behind the operation. These guys wanted to make sushi not just delicious but accessible, no matter if you’re dining in or grabbing a takeout box. Initially, it was all about sushi to go, but when locals started showing up in person, Bento adapted and turned into a full-on dining experience, complete with a cozy outdoor area.

The Chow

Since opening in 2022, Bento Sushi has been straight up crushin’ it. The menu’s loaded, the reviews are fire (we’re talkin’ a perfect 5.0 on Google), and they’re always switchin’ things up with fresh seasonal drops to keep you hooked. We’ve already lined up a trip to taste-test their best for ourselves, and trust— we’ll be back with the lowdown. But until then, Mateusz, the sushi wizard himself, dropped his go-to picks from the menu. Here’s what the man behind the magic is feelin’ right now…

What to Order:

the Set

Bento Set II (34 pcs) – 142zł: Salmon futomaki, shrimp tempura rolls, and spicy salmon salad. This set sounds like the perfect mix of flavors and textures, from crispy shrimp to rich, buttery salmon. It’s designed to satisfy when you want to try a little bit of everything.

The udon

Udon Noodles with Hoisin Chicken – 35zł: Comfort food with a Japanese twist. We’re talkin’ juicy chicken, fresh spinach, and tender udon noodles all drenched in sweet and savory hoisin sauce. Add a splash of lime, and it sounds like the ultimate cozy dish.

The Dragon

Bento Dragon (8 pcs) – 49zł: Panko shrimp, spicy salmon tartare, and truffle mayo? Sign us up! The mix of crispy shrimp with that rich, creamy mayo and a hit of spicy salmon is calling our name.

The Bao

Bao Bun – 29zł: Pulled pork with spicy mayo and chili wrapped in a fluffy bao bun—sounds like straight-up fire. We haven’t tried it yet, but we’re already drooling over the idea of smoky, tender pork with a spicy kick.

The Verdict

By the way…the name Bento itself means a meal you can pack up and eat anywhere, which is fitting since they started out with a focus on takeaway. But whether you’re grabbing it to go or chilling in their sweet outdoor space, Bento Sushi’s got you covered. Rataje’s got its winner – now, it’s on to the next district. Keep it locked with Poznań Daily as we continue our sushi journey, hunting down the best spots across the city. Stay tuned, sushi lovers! For all you lazy folks, here’s the hookup to order Bento online or call them to make a reservation on 530 200 440
