“Need Credit in Poland? We Dug Up the Guy Who Can Make It Happen”

Yo Poznan!

Poznań Daily gets a ton of requests every day. Mostly about what’s popping in the city, the latest cafés, and, lately… credit. Yep, apparently a lot of people are curious: how can a foreigner get credit in Poland? Who can help? Which bank won’t ghost you after five emails?

Well, we didn’t have the answers either — at first. So, we did what any streetwise news crew would do: we dug. And we found Janusz Olszewski, a mortgage and credit guru whose track record makes even bankers sit up straight. We’re talking north of $260 million in credit arranged over the years. Yeah, you read that right.

We hit him up for a chat (and a future one-on-one deep dive on the foreigner credit situation). Here’s what we learned about the man behind the numbers:

Finance Is in My Blood

Janusz didn’t stumble into banking by accident. Growing up, finance was a family affair — his brother and relatives are all number-crunching pros. While his friends were hedging bets on multiple university programs, Janusz went all in: one faculty, one university, one goal. Poznań University of Economics, Faculty of Banking and Finance. He nailed it.

Fast forward a few years: working at a bank, he was named Poland’s best mortgage advisor twice and snagged the Management Aces award in 2010 and 2012. But let’s be real — not every day in finance is glamorous. A stint in the bank’s head office (aka “the back office dungeon”) reminded him that he thrives in the spotlight, not behind Excel sheets and PowerPoint decks. When his first child was born, he realized: life’s too short not to help people in person.

The Independent Mortgage Whisperer

In 2016, Janusz went independent. And that’s when things got interesting. With access to almost every banking product on the market, he found he could do what bankers often can’t: say yes where the bank says no. Refused a mortgage? Denied a cash loan? Janusz loves it when clients get told “can’t be done” — because his job is to make it happen.

He’s not just a “sign here” type of advisor. Janusz works long-term with clients: court filings, property insurance, ongoing guidance. Some clients have stuck with him for 12 years — not because he’s pushy, but because he actually has their back.
