Ilya, when did Soda Tattoo open?

Ilya: We opened our doors in June 2022.

How did you and Inga start working together?

Ilya: I found Inga through an Instagram ad. Interestingly, I was already a fan of her work, so it was a perfect match.

How long have you both been tattooing?

Ilya: I’ve been tattooing for about five and a half years.

Inga: I’ve been in the industry for approximately three years.

What inspired you to become tattoo artists?

Ilya: I was influenced by the work of Russian artist Katya Geta. Additionally, during my military service in Belarus, I started tattooing colleagues, which solidified my passion.

What do you hate most?

The paperwork and marketing stuff. I’m lucky that my wife helps out with this stuff.

What are your favorite tattoo motifs?

Ilya: I enjoy working on Roman sculptures and Renaissance-inspired pieces.

Inga: I’m drawn to melancholic themes.

How would you describe the Graphic Microrealistic style?

Ilya: Graphic Microrealistic is a unique blend of micro-realism and graphic design elements, resulting in visually stunning and intricately detailed tattoos.

And Inga, how about Semi-realistic anime?

Inga: Semi-realistic anime in tattooing combines traditional anime aesthetics with a touch of realism. It maintains anime’s bold lines and expressive characters while introducing detailed shading and nuanced facial expressions for a captivating result.

What are your pricing details?

Ilya: A day’s work typically costs around 2000 PLN, and smaller tattoos start at 350 PLN per hour.

Inga: My designs have a minimum cost of 900 PLN.

Which body area is the most painful for tattoos?

Ilya: Probably under the arm.

Have clients ever cried during a tattoo session?

Ilya: Hahaha, it happens sometimes, especially with guys.
