Yo Poznan!
At Poznań Daily, we get a lot of questions sliding into our DMs:
“Where should I go for brunch?”
“Best breakfast in town?”
“Got a new hidden gem?”
Well, as much as we love shouting out the usual suspects, we also love a little adventure. So we set out to try a place that’s been on our radar for a while — one we’ve walked past probably 50 times without ever going in. We’re talking about Gwara, tucked right on Fredry 6, literally a stone’s throw from the Fredry tram stop.
And now we’re kicking ourselves for not trying it sooner.

Brunch Time with a French Twist
So, what finally made us step in? Curiosity. And rumbling stomachs. We pushed through the door and were instantly charmed. The space is cozy, colorful but not overdone — wooden tables, playful chairs, plants galore, and a cute little mezzanine area tucked upstairs (which we totally missed at first — hence, “the secret room” hahaha). If you’re planning a romantic breakfast, that’s your table. Ours was right by the window — perfect lighting for our shameless food photography.

As luck would have it, we also got to meet Olga, the mastermind behind it all. Normally, she’s glued to the kitchen, but today she had a moment to chat upstairs in her mezzanini. She’s got stories to tell, so stay tuned for a full interview coming soon. But today? It was all about the food.

Short Menu. Big Vibes.
The menu is tight, sharp, and French-inspired — crêpes, French toast, hearty toasts, sweet and savory options. As always, we picked three dishes and here’s what went down:
French Toast – 29 PLN
Homemade brioche-style bun soaked and grilled with butter, topped with caramelized apples and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

You’d think it might feel too rich, but it really wasn’t. The apples gave a tart contrast, and the buttery toast had just the right crispness on the edges while staying soft inside. The ice cream? A smooth, creamy finisher without being too much. Balanced, light, dreamy.

Toast with Pear, Gorgonzola & Prosciutto – 34 PLN
Butter-toasted bread layered with gorgonzola cheese, thin slices of pear, a little thyme, and that mysterious homemade Gwara sauce on the side.

This one was sophisticated — the kind of dish where every bite makes you pause. Sweetness from the pear, the funkiness of the gorgonzola, that salty cured prosciutto… all working in perfect harmony. And major bonus points for not drowning it in sauce — the flavors shined on their own.
Multigrain Toast with Smoked Salmon – 34 PLN
Topped with creamy avocado, a soft egg, crisp lettuce, and that signature sauce again.
The salmon? Bold, smoky, and full of flavor — not your bland, watery supermarket stuff. Every ingredient had space to speak for itself, and together? They sang. Think brunch symphony, not fast food jingle.

Sips & Vibes
To wash it down: a matcha latte (chilled and smooth) and a Mojito lemonade that had just enough zing without being overly sweet. Refreshing, stylish, and just what brunch ordered.

Gwara: Our New Top 3 Brunch Spot
What stood out most? The balance. The respect for ingredients. Nothing was hiding under a pile of sauce or sugar. Everything was confident, clean, and delicious.
We’re officially putting Gwara in our Top 3 brunch spots in Poznań.
Yup. That good.

Useful Bits
Fredry 6, right in the center (50m from the tram stop).
Open 10:00–20:00 every day
(except Mondays — when they sleep in a bit and open at 11:00… fair enough, it’s Monday, give ‘em a break).
And yes, they’re open every single day, which is rare these days!
So next time you’re craving brunch with soul, skip the queues, stroll to Fredry, and let Gwara treat you right. And remember the hidden mezzanini for that breakfast date!

As the French say…
“C’est la vie… mais avec un bon petit déjeuner, c’est bien mieux.”
(Life’s good, but with a good breakfast — it’s even better.)
