Poznan Daily Tries Indian Lilva Kachori — The Snack You Didn’t Know You Needed at home!

Yo Poznan!

You already know by now we’re nosy when it comes to food. If it’s edible and within delivery range, the Poznań Daily crew will probably test it on a lunch break. Last time we scored an Indian feast for under 50 PLN (still bragging about that, btw). This week, our eyes wandered to the snack section — and oh boy, did we stumble on something golden: Lilva Kachori by Deep Indian Gourmet at the Maharaja Mart on Gwarna Street.

So, what the heck is Lilva Kachori? Picture this: crispy round pastry balls stuffed with a spiced mash of pigeon peas (that’s toor dal for the food nerds, aka split peas with swagger). These little balls are basically street food royalty in Gujarat, India. They’re the kind of thing you grab hot from a cart while gossiping with friends. For us, it was more like heating them up in the office kitchen, but the vibe was close enough.

Cooking Tips

The package says: “defrost, then deep fry.” But we’re rebels with arteries to protect, so we hacked it. Step one: toss them in the microwave for a couple of minutes, just enough to wake them up.

Step two: instead of dunking them in oil like it’s the KFC Olympics, we dropped them in a pan with a knob of butter (yes, that’s the official culinary unit of measurement). Then came the fun part — the shake. You basically keep swirling the pan around like you’re a DJ, letting each kachori roll and sizzle until every inch of pastry gets that buttery kiss of golden brown.

End result? Crispy outside, warm pea-and-spice hug inside. Totally worth the butter workout.

Flavor Combos That Slap

On their own, these kachoris are already addictive — buttery crunch followed by an earthy, slightly sweet pea filling with just enough spice to remind you they’re Indian. But you know we didn’t stop there. We cracked open a jar of Date & Tamarind chutney by Ashoka (pro tip: order it together, thank us later). Sweet, tangy, sticky, sour — that chutney with the kachori is basically food porn. Add in a cold beer or even a hot chai, and you’re officially in snacking heaven.

Final Word

Lilva Kachori might be marketed as a snack, but let’s be real: a plate of these babies with chutney on the side could easily be dinner. Or breakfast. Or both. Zero judgment here. We’re now declaring them the official “must-have freezer snack” of the Poznań Daily office.

Wanna upgrade your snack game? Pick up a pack of Lilva Kachori by Deep Indian Gourmet, and don’t skip the Date & Tamarind chutney by Ashoka. Your taste buds (and your office lunch breaks) will never be the same again. Next up, the Masala Idli rice cakes. See you soon!
