New Restaurant Just Dropped in Poznan. Welcome Tatarka!

Yo Poznan!

We at Poznań Daily are always on the hunt for something fresh, different, and just a little bit wild when it comes to the food scene in this city. Let’s be honest — the copy-paste restaurant vibe is strong in Poznań lately. Another burger joint? Another faux-Italian menu with carbonara drowning in cream? Nah, not today.

So when Tatarka quietly opened its doors in the Old Town on Wozna 10 Street, we had to check it out. Why? Because this isn’t just a new place. It’s probably the only one of its kind in town.

We’re talking Tatar cuisine — yes, that Tatar. The nomadic culinary vibes of the Volga Tatars, seasoned with Central Asian, Turkic, and Russian influences, brought right here to our medieval cobbled streets. It’s rich, earthy, and definitely not your average Thursday lunch.

We did try to reach the owner to get the lowdown, but they’re currently off enjoying some well-earned holiday sunshine. Lucky them. But we pushed forward (for you, dear reader), rolled up our sleeves, and picked three dishes that we think will blow your foodie brain out of its routine.

First Impressions

The place itself is cozy, understated, with warm wooden interiors and a window table that became my throne for the afternoon. The waitstaff? Ninja quick and super friendly — no small talk overkill, just vibes and efficiency.

The menu? Short and sweet. That’s a green flag if you ask us (shoutout Gordon Ramsay). When a place knows what it’s doing, it doesn’t need 17 pages of “maybe” dishes.

KULDUNY + FILIŻANKA ROSOŁU

29 zł + 5 zł (for the rosoł cup – total no-brainer)
Let’s start strong. These are basically beef pierogis, Tatar-style — eight little pockets of joy, stuffed with juicy, seasoned beef. Not your typical Polish pierogi either — these were thinner, more delicate, and packed serious flavor.

The real kicker? That rosoł served in a cup on the side. It’s a clean, rich broth that you sip between bites like a shot of soul. Warm, comforting, but with a slight peppery punch that gets your attention. Honestly, I’d drink a pint of this stuff in winter.

LISTKOWIEC Z GĘSINĄ

29 zł
Translation: Layered pasta pastry filled with goose meat, served with a side of fresh salad and herb dip.
This was like the love child of a lasagna sheet and a pasty. The goose filling was rich, slightly gamey, but super tender. The pastry had that perfect chew, and the herb dip added a zesty, cooling balance. Add in that crispy slaw for crunch and freshness — boom, a full-on flavor party. Definitely something different.

STEPOWE POLICZKI WOŁOWE

69 zł
Yes, that’s a big boy price tag. But when we read beef cheeks braised in red wine with roasted veggies — we were sold. And let me tell you, it delivered.

The beef? Fall-apart tender. The red wine sauce? Deep, rich, slightly sweet, but with a hit of acidity that kept it balanced. Roasted veg on the side were simple but perfectly cooked — rooty, earthy, exactly what you want as a backup singer to the main event.
It’s the kind of dish you eat slowly, like you’re on a date with it. Absolutely worth it.

TATARKA LEMONADE

18 zł (glass) / 27 zł (jar – go big or go thirsty)
We washed it all down with this refreshing house lemonade packed with pomegranate, lemon, mint, ginger, and black cumin.
Sweet, tangy, slightly spicy with a soft herbal finish. Basically summer in a glass. If you’re going with friends, do the jar. Or just be that person who drinks the whole jar solo. We don’t judge.

Bonus: Chalka with honey

They serve this as a small side with every order. Simple, soft, sweet — a lovely touch that ties the whole experience together.

Not Your Typical Comfort Food

This isn’t your creamy pasta, burger-and-fries comfort zone. It’s exploration food. But if you’re looking to shake up your eating habits and try something rooted in tradition, culture, and actual flavor — then Tatarka is waiting.

I left full, impressed, and only slightly salty that the heavens opened up and it started raining buckets as I stepped outside. Ah, Polish summer. But honestly, the food made up for it.

Final Word: Don’t Be a Robot

There’s more to life than spaghetti bolognese and sushi sets.
Tatarka is something new, something real, and something worth checking out.

We loved these three dishes, but explore the menu and find your own.
You might just discover your new favorite food.
