Hey Poznan!
At Poznan Daily we’re always on the lookout for cool things happening in Poznań — especially projects that bring the international crowd together. So when we wrote about recently, what might be the only singing class in English in the city, curiosity kicked in.
We had to see it for ourselves.
The class takes place right in the city centre at Artyfuzja, located on Fredry Street — basically right in the middle of the action near Dom Książki and Okrąglak.
When we arrived, the group was already warming up and working on a song by Zuza Jabłońska called “Wierna, Odważna i Prawa” from the Polish version of the Disney movie Mulan. The track is powerful and emotional — all about courage, loyalty and standing strong for who you are. Not exactly an easy song to sing… but the group jumped straight into it.
Five Voices, One Big Sound
Currently five women have signed up, and the vibe in the room was instantly welcoming. Most of the group are foreigners living in Poznań, and you could tell they were having fun figuring the song out together.
When they started singing the chorus as a group, something cool happened — the voices blended together and suddenly the room filled with this big, uplifting sound.
Leading the session was vocal coach Sylwiana Shobiye, who was completely in the zone. She kept pushing the singers to open up their voices, breathe deeper and really feel the emotion of the song. Less “sing it perfectly,” more “sing it like you mean it.”
Every few minutes she’d jump in with tips, run the chorus again, and push them just a little further. By the end, the group sounded way more confident and way louder than when we walked in.
No Pressure. Just Good Vibes.
The best part? You definitely don’t need to be a professional singer.
All levels are welcome. Some people clearly had experience, others were just there to try something new. Either way, nobody was judging anyone — and if you sing a little off-key, don’t worry. Half the time everyone is singing together anyway.
Think of it less like a strict music class and more like a creative hangout where you happen to learn how to sing better.
Something Different for Expats
If you’re living in Poznań and looking for something a bit different to get you out of the house, this might be one of the coolest options around.
You’ll meet new people, try something creative, and maybe even discover you’ve got a voice you didn’t know about.
And honestly? Hearing five voices slowly turn into one big chorus was pretty inspiring.
