We found an Alternative Coffee Spot in Grunwald!

We’ve been on the lookout for a legit alternative coffee spot in Grunwald, and finally, we found one that’s tucked right in the middle of a housing estate on Marcelińska Street. We could be wrong, but is this the only legit alternative coffee spot in Grunwald? If we missed any, hit us up in the comments below! Coming back to our find. Say hello to Zakładka (which, if you’re curious, translates to “bookmark” in Polish). It’s a low-key gem that’s become a hit with the locals, but you wouldn’t even know it was there unless you strolled through the estate.

Stepping inside, it’s clear that this place has a serious vibe. Cozy, warm, and from what we saw, a real spot where everybody knows everybody. Behind the bar, we met Izabela—the new mastermind behind Zakładka. She’s been running the place since March after taking over from the previos owner, and it’s clear she’s built something special here. We had a quick chat with her while she was whipping up some fresh coffee, and the energy was real.

Izabela told us straight up: “I didn’t just want to serve good coffee and cake; I wanted to create a space where people could just hang out, chill, maybe even have a random convo with the person at the next table.” And you can feel that vibe all over the place. The regulars were already deep in convo, and you could tell it’s the type of spot where you can sit for hours and just soak it all in.

The cakes here? Izabela has a major sweet tooth and loves baking, so it’s no surprise she’s all about serving up stuff like cheesecake that pairs perfectly with her coffee.

She’s also got a wild variety of coffee on deck. If you’re into espresso, you’re set. But she’s also got that specialty coffee game strong—drip, Aeropress, you name it. There’s always around 7-8 different types of 100% Arabica beans ready to go. Classics like Ethiopia and Kenya, and some heavy-hitters like Guatemala, Brazil, and Colombia. Izabela said, “I don’t think people hate coffee—they just haven’t found their flavor yet.” And honestly, we kinda agree. Oh, and if coffee isn’t your thing, no worries. She’s got Georgian teas and real cocoa from São Tomé on the menu.

Zakładka is seriously the only spot of its kind we’ve found in Grunwald, and we’re already planning a return trip to get deep into those Arabica coffee options. We’ll let you know our faves when we’re back. Stay tuned.
