Yo Poznan
If you’ve been following our combat sport crusade here at Poznań Daily, you know we’ve been throwing hands (metaphorically… mostly) across the city — bringing you the best kickboxing, jiu-jitsu, and boxing coaches Poznań has to offer.
So what’s next on the hit list? The classic. The OG. The art of self-control, balance, and yelling dramatically while kicking the air like a boss — Karate.

The Lowdown
And, as always, we did our homework. We lurked, we scrolled, we investigated like black belts in Google-Fu — and that’s when we stumbled across something special: GOATS Karate Team Poznań.
Now, if you’ve somehow been living under a rock — or worse, only doing yoga — “GOATS” stands for Greatest Of All Time. But hold up… in Poznań, the word hits different. It’s also a cheeky nod to our city’s two iconic billy goats, those legends that butt heads daily at the Town Hall clock tower. So, yeah — when we saw that name, we knew we’d struck gold.

Meet the Sensei
After reaching out to the founder, Maciej Drążewski, it took about 10 seconds to realize this dude’s the real deal. We’re talking Olympic karate athlete, WKF kumite certified coach, 5x National Champ, and — because life isn’t fair — a physiotherapist too.
We were half expecting him to tell us he also plays guitar and speaks seven languages, but nah, he’s just humble like that.

And get this — he’s not just out here collecting medals. He’s out here breeding champions. His students are smashing it nationally and internationally, representing Poland at European Championships, scooping scholarships, and climbing podiums like it’s casual Tuesday.
But don’t let all that intimidate you — GOATS is for everyone. Kids, adults, rookies, veterans… even that one friend who “just wants to try it once.” The atmosphere’s all about growth, respect, and progress — not who’s wearing the black belt.

New Dojo
Maciej just moved to a new, massive dojo, by the way. The space is clean, modern, and full of that contagious energy that makes you want to high-kick your way through life. Whether you’re starting from scratch or returning to your martial arts roots, this place is waiting for you to step on the mat.
And if you think karate’s just about fighting, think again. There’s also Kata — a more technical, meditative form of practice that focuses on precision and flow, like a beautiful (but deadly) dance. If karate is the fight, Kata is the art behind it.
Dojo divas in the house
One thing that blew our minds? The number of girls training there — and dominating. These ladies are proof that karate isn’t just about brute force — it’s about focus, confidence, and yes, perfect form while kicking someone’s ego to the floor.

So if you’ve been flirting with the idea of trying combat sports, Maciej Drążewski and GOATS Karate Team Poznań should be on your radar. Friendly, passionate, humble — the kind of guy who can roundhouse kick your excuses out the window while smiling.

The Last Kick
Oh — and stay tuned, because we’re lining up an interview with Maciej real soon to get all the juicy details about life as a karate expert. A few of his students will also be spilling the tea on what he’s really like behind the dojo doors… should be fun.
And if you still need convincing — we’ll just say this: we’re heading over there soon for a session. So if you hear someone yelling “OSU!” and someone falling over, don’t worry… It’s just us warming up.
