Pierogarnia Stary Młyn: Beyond Expectations in Authentic Polish Culinary Excellence in the Old Town.

Nestled across various cities in Poland, Pierogarnia Stary Młyn might initially seem like a destination catering to tourists. However, having indulged in the culinary delights offered, it becomes unequivocally clear that it stands as one of the finest Polish restaurants in the city. Beyond the potential misconception, each location is a testament to preserving local traditions and flavors, presenting an authentic dining experience that captivates both locals and visitors alike. With a commitment to culinary excellence, these establishments redefine the perception of a traditional Polish restaurant, offering a genuine taste of Poland that transcends the expectations often associated with tourist-centric spots.

Commencing with the starters, it was imperative to indulge in the quintessential Zurek soup (Sour rye soup). Their rendition featured homemade sausage, lovage, egg, potatoes, and bacon—a delightful interplay of sour, salty, and creamy notes. The unique blend of flavors in żurek creates an unforgettable taste experience. Venturing further, we explored the Szandar Borowiacki, a recent addition to the 2024 menu. This dish showcased a baked potato cake adorned with smoked bacon, served alongside a crisp salad and a luscious egg yolk sauce. Both selections proved to be an absolute delight!

Moving on to the main course, our selection included the delectable vegetarian oven-baked pierogi, Lesne Runo, priced at 40.96 PLN. This dish featured a delightful combination of mixed forest mushrooms, cream, and leek. Additionally, we couldn’t resist indulging in the Koło Młyńskie, priced at 44.96 PLN—an expansive potato pancake adorned with roast sauce and complemented by a hearty addition of stewed pork and vegetables. The portions were generously sized, leaving us eagerly anticipating each flavorful bite!

Saving the best for last, we delved into the tempting world of desserts. Following the waiter’s recommendation, we savored the delightful Cycek Młynarki (Miller’s Boob) dessert, priced at 21.96 PLN. This unique treat showcased a delectable cottage cheese donut, elegantly served with cream and jam and adorned with a sprinkle of icing sugar. Paired with the aromatic Cinnamon Coffee, it proved to be an impeccable combination. The second dessert was the Orzesz-Ty! A smallish pastry with creamy peanut butter, praline, and salted peanuts. Delicious!

In summing up, our recommended dishes offer a delightful taste of Polish cuisine. With an impressive decor and a cozy atmosphere, this place surpasses expectations. The series of dishes we tried was truly amazing, complemented by exceptional service. The water provided was the best we’ve experienced in the Old Market Square. Don’t miss the chance to savor these exceptional flavors and enjoy top-notch service!
