SZKŁO – Raw Plates, Real Vibes, Zero Pretending

Hey Poznan!

Right in the center of Poznań on Gwarna 10, there’s a spot that’s doing the exact opposite of what most places try to do… and somehow winning harder because of it. SZKŁO doesn’t flex. It doesn’t overload plates with unnecessary extras. It doesn’t chase trends.

It just keeps it brutally honest.

And that’s exactly why we featured them in Poznań Daily’s Feb/March paper edition.

No BS Food. Just Flavor.

Let’s be real—half the city is trying too hard right now. Overdesigned plates, 15 ingredients fighting for attention, vibes over substance.

SZKŁO? Nah. They strip it all back. Short sharing menu. Natural wines. Good energy. That’s it.

We pulled up and ran through 4+ dishes—and every single one hit. But a few? Yeah… different level.

What We Ate (And Why It Slaps)

The Fried fish with tartar sauce (26 PLN / 150g) were crispy, golden outside, flaky and juicy inside. No grease overload, just clean frying. The tartar? Sharp, slightly acidic, cuts through perfectly. Classic combo, executed properly, no shortcuts.

The Grilled padrón peppers with alioli (26 PLN) were smoky, blistered, and slightly charred. Most are mild, then boom—one sneaks in with heat just to wake you up. The alioli is creamy, garlicky, rich without being heavy. This is one of those plates you keep reaching for without thinking.

The Medium rib-eye with chimichurri (39 PLN / 150g) absolutely stood out. Proper sear, juicy center, cooked exactly how it should be. The chimichurri brings that fresh, herby punch parsley, garlic, acid, cutting through the richness of the meat. Balanced, bold, no gimmicks.

The perfect comfort food dish, the french fries with Parmesan mousse (24 PLN / 200g) Yeah… fries. But not just fries. Crispy, golden, addictive. Then you dip into that Parmesan mousse—light, cheesy, slightly salty, almost airy. It hits different. Comfort food leveled up.

We end with our favorite, the chorizo sausages in wine (28 PLN / 200g). Deep, rich, slightly spicy chorizo soaked in wine—juicy, bold, full of flavor. The wine adds that subtle sweetness and acidity, rounding everything out. This one’s built for sharing… or not, as was the case with me

The Wine Situation

The wine list? Low-key one of the most interesting in the city.

Heavy Europe energy, but it doesn’t stay in its lane, U.S., Australia, Serbia, and those off-radar regions that don’t scream for attention but deserve it. Natural wines that actually feel alive. And here’s the thing—nothing is forced. This isn’t some stiff “pairing” experience like a wedding seating chart.

You mix.
You test.
You discover.
You argue.
You order another bottle.

Final Word

SZKŁO feels like the pulse.

Raw. Social. Loud in the right way. Tables full, glasses clinking, people leaning in, talking, laughing. It’s not about perfection, it’s about energy, and that’s why they feature in our very first paper edition!

Some places try to impress you. SZKŁO doesn’t try, and that’s exactly why it does. If you’re tired of overhyped plates and just want real food, real wine, and a real night out… You already know where to go.
