We Tried Rois: The New Sushi & Poke Bar in Łazarz, Poznań

Yo Poznań!

Your boys at Poznań Daily are back on our ongoing mission: discovering every new restaurant, bar, and food spot that pops up in the city. This week we rolled out to Łazarz and stumbled upon something interesting — a tiny but mighty take-away sushi/poke joint called Rois, run by Marisa and Anton.

First thing we had to ask was, what’s up with the name? And then it hit us Rois = Rolls (sushi rolls) + Rolls-Royce (the luxury car). Wordplay? Clever. Concept? Tight. The real question, of course, was whether the sushi lives up to the Rolls-Royce hype or whether it’s more like a Skoda Fabia on a Monday morning.

Plot Twist

They actually swiped right on each other on Tinder — which is wild, because most matches never make it past ‘you seem chill’ before ghosting. These two? They turned a swipe into a sushi empire. Respect. Marisa isn’t new to the game either; she’s already running a successful spot outside Poznań, so Rois isn’t some random hobby.

Inside, Rois is small and minimalist, with only a few stools — perfect if you want to pop in, grab a bite, and go. Take-away is clearly the vibe here. But we, being the food explorers we are, had to taste-test a few things for science. Naturally, we focused on salmon — it’s kind of our thing.

The Chow

First up was the Poke Bowl z łososiem surowym (48 zł). Rice, raw salmon, avocado, edamame, wakame, pickled onion, cucumber, chives, sesame, spicy mayo, kabayaki — all the good stuff. The flavors hit like a perfectly balanced playlist: fresh, creamy, a little spicy, a little sweet, no notes out of tune. The salmon was soft, the rice perfectly cooked, and the sauces just right.

Next, we went full-on sushi box chaos: Hosomaki Łosoś surowy, California Łosoś opalany, California Łosoś surowy, and Futomaki Łosoś surowy. Each roll was fresh, consistent, and delicious. The torched salmon on the California roll brought a nice smoky kick, while the creamy Philadelphia cheese balanced everything out. Overall verdict: not Rolls-Royce leather seats, but definitely a Rolls-Royce engine under the hood — smooth, strong, reliable.

Because we’re also burger-lovers, we couldn’t skip the Sushi Burger z łososiem surowym (52 zł). Rice bun, salmon, cucumber, cheese, pickled onion, avocado, spicy mayo, sriracha, kabayaki — it’s messy, filling, and absolutely hits. Perfect for those days when you want sushi but also need a little chaos in your life.

We also tried Krewetki Tempura (7 szt., 39 zł) while we waited, with spicy mayo. Crispy, hot, delicious.

Our Verdict

So, did Rois live up to the Rolls-Royce name? Absolutely. No gold-plated interiors, no fancy ambiance — just solid, fresh sushi made by people who care. Rois does exactly what it says on the tin: good sushi, quick service, no drama.

If you want to support new, local, brave spots in Poznań, this is one to check. Be the friend who discovered it first — and maybe bring your own sushi obsession along.

Order online, pop in for take-away, or grab a stool and say hi to Marisa and Anton. They’ll be at Rynek Łazarski 11, open daily from 12:00 to 21:00.
