After the tragic tenement fire, Greater Poland Voivode Agata Sobczyk assured the public that the fire fighters and victims would receive 6,000 PLN in financial assistance. However, many have only received a fraction of that—1,000, 1,500, or 3,000 PLN at best. This discrepancy has left victims confused and frustrated, especially as they try to rebuild their lives.
The city hall, responsible for distributing these funds, now faces mounting pressure to explain the shortfall. Residents are left wondering if the distribution was based on income, permanent residence, or some other unclear criteria. The unequal distribution has even led to a bizarre situation where some recipients, feeling guilty for receiving more than others, have considered sharing their aid.
Officials claim they’re working on additional tranches of aid, but the question remains: Why weren’t these funds distributed fairly in the first place?
