SZKŁO Strikes Again: Somehow They Made Our Favorite Spot Even Better

Poznań, we need to talk.

You know that feeling when you revisit a place you already love and secretly hope nothing has changed?

Yeah. We walked back into SZKŁO on Gwarna 10 with exactly that energy.

After our first visit, we genuinely thought they had nailed the formula: small plates, natural wine, zero nonsense, maximum flavor. The kind of place where every dish feels like it has a reason to exist.

So when we heard they’d been tweaking the menu, we were curious.

A little skeptical.

And very hungry.

Turns out we had absolutely nothing to worry about.

The Chorizo in Wine Is Still Here (Thank God)

First things first.

The Chorizo Sausages in Wine (28 PLN) technically aren’t new. But after one bite, you’ll understand exactly why they survived the menu refresh.

This dish is pure comfort wrapped in Spanish soul.

The chorizo is rich, smoky, slightly spicy and deeply savory, while the wine creates a glossy sauce that brings subtle sweetness and acidity to balance everything out. The result is intensely flavorful without ever becoming heavy.

And here’s where I get to be slightly biased.

With a Spanish background, I’ve eaten enough chorizo over the years to know when something is the real deal and when it’s just wearing a fake moustache and pretending. This is the real deal.

The paprika-forward flavor, the texture, the way the wine works with the sausage rather than overpowering it—it’s exactly the kind of dish you’d happily demolish in a small bar somewhere in northern Spain with a glass of red and absolutely no plans for the rest of the day.

Still one of the best things on the menu.

Still impossible to share.

The biggest surprise of the evening

Tuna Crudo with Cucumber, Lime, Coriander & Apple Sauce, Olive Oil, Chilli, Blood Orange and Sichuan Pepper (38 PLN)

This plate feels like summer decided to put on a leather jacket.

The tuna is silky, clean and delicate, acting as the perfect canvas for a combination of flavors that sounds slightly chaotic on paper but works beautifully in practice.

You get freshness from the cucumber.

Sharp citrus from the lime.

A subtle sweetness from the apple.

The blood orange brings a deeper, almost floral citrus note.

Then the chilli arrives with gentle heat before the Sichuan pepper sneaks in with that signature tingling sensation that keeps your palate awake.

Every bite changes slightly depending on what lands on your fork.

Bright. Fresh. Complex. Ridiculously moreish.

This is the kind of dish that disappears from the table much faster than expected.

Next up:

Three Tomato Salad with Croutons, Stracciatella by M. Rudnicki, Shallots, Thai Basil and Jalapeño (29 PLN)

This is proof that simple ingredients become dangerous when treated properly.

Three different tomatoes bring varying levels of sweetness, acidity and texture. The stracciatella adds creamy richness that softens everything without stealing the spotlight.

Then come the supporting actors.

Crunchy croutons.

Sharp shallots.

Aromatic Thai basil.

And jalapeño providing little flashes of heat that keep the salad from drifting into predictable territory.

It’s fresh, vibrant and balanced. The kind of dish that reminds you summer in Poland can actually be a pretty beautiful thing.

Then came:

Burrata with Citrus, Courgette and Pistachio Salad (32 PLN)

A dish that feels effortless while actually being incredibly well thought out.

The burrata is exactly what you want it to be: creamy, luxurious and impossible not to attack immediately.

Around it, the citrus salad brings brightness and acidity, cutting through the richness with precision. The courgette adds freshness and texture while the pistachios contribute a nutty crunch that ties everything together.

It’s elegant without being precious.

Refreshing without feeling light.

And somehow both comforting and summery at the same time.

Why This Menu Upgrade Works

The smartest thing about these additions isn’t that they’re flashy.

It’s that they fit perfectly into what SZKŁO already does best.

The kitchen hasn’t abandoned its identity. Nobody suddenly decided they needed molecular foam, edible smoke or ingredients sourced from a volcano.

Instead, they’ve expanded the menu with dishes that feel fresher, brighter and more seasonal while keeping the same philosophy intact: great ingredients, thoughtful combinations and enough personality to keep things interesting.

That’s much harder than it sounds.

Because improving something that’s already working is often harder than building it from scratch.

When we first visited SZKŁO, we left convinced we’d found one of the most exciting places to eat and drink in central Poznań.

After this second visit?

We’re slightly annoyed.

Because we genuinely didn’t think SZKŁO could get any better.

And somehow, it just did.

Grab some friends, order widely, open a bottle of natural wine and settle in.

The pulse of Poznań is still beating on Gwarna 10, and you dont even have to wait until night because they open at 16:00 every day!

Brilliant!
