Shrimply Delicious: The best shrimp dish we have ever tasted!!!

Located in the heart of Grunwald at Grundwaldzka 29c, Donatello has been a beloved culinary destination since 1991. Established by Marek, it holds the distinction of being in our opinion, Poznań’s pioneering trattoria, renowned for its enduring appeal and timeless flavors in the ever-evolving culinary scene. With summer in full swing, we decided to indulge in a seafood feast review. Knowing that the esteemed chef, Tomasz, is a passionate aficionado of shrimp, we sat down with him and ordered everything with shrimp!

Our culinary journey began with the Pizza Chef, a delectable creation adorned with cheese, parmesan, arugula, tomatoes, shrimp, and garlic. Each bite was a harmonious blend of flavors, with the succulent shrimp taking center stage amidst the savory cheese and zesty garlic.

Next, we savored the Tagliatelle Chef, a tantalizing pasta dish again featuring shrimp and with tomatoes, arugula, garlic, olives, and herbs. The flavors danced on our palate, perfectly complementing the tender shrimp with the freshness of the tomatoes and aromatic garlic.

The Shrimp dish is the best we have ever tasted!

However, the pièce de résistance was undeniably Tomasz’s Scampi Aglio, Olio e Peperoncino. This signature dish showcased shrimp delicately sautéed in olive oil with tomatoes, garlic, peppers, and herbs. Each bite was a revelation, a perfect embodiment of the Mediterranean culinary experience. The best shrimp dish we have ever tasted!!!

To accompany our meal, we opted for a refreshing freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, bursting with vibrant citrus notes that provided a delightful contrast to the rich flavors of the seafood. Additionally, we indulged in a classic Mojito, expertly crafted and brimming with refreshing mint and zesty lime.

Since its inception in 1991, Donatello has continually elevated its offerings under Tomasz’s skilled direction. With its exceptional cuisine and inviting ambiance, Donatello remains the epitome of the trattoria experience in Poznań—a true culinary gem that delights diners year after year. As much as the food was delectable, I couldn’t finish it all. Thankfully, the attentive staff graciously packed up the leftovers for me to enjoy at home. Truly, Donatello reigns as the Trattoria King of Poznań!
