Lights Will Go Dark in Poznań for 1 hour on Saturday at 20:30

The Lowdown

This Saturday at 20:30, Poznań will go dark—well, at least symbolically. As part of WWF’s Hour for Earth, landmarks, institutions, and (in theory) residents will switch off their lights for 60 minutes to raise awareness about biodiversity and environmental protection.

Sounds noble, right? But let’s be honest—will anyone actually participate? Sure, Poznań City Hall will flick the switch, but will the average resident really sit in the dark for an hour, or will they just scroll through their phones with the lights off?

The WWF emphasizes the importance of biodiversity, explaining that nature helps prevent droughts, floods, and heat waves—issues we should all care about. And yet, year after year, Hour for Earth comes and goes with little more than a flicker of attention.

The Question is…

So, the real question is: Will you join in? Or will you leave the lights on, crack open a cold one, and watch Netflix instead? Let’s see.
