(UPDATE)Horror in Poznań: Masked Man Tries to Kidnap 10-Year-Old Boy in Broad Daylight

Chilling!

Another chilling incident has shaken Poznań—and this time, it’s hit one of our city’s family housing estates.

On Monday, May 26, in the normally quiet Stare Żegrze district, a 10-year-old boy was attacked while walking to a local store. The attacker wore a protective mask and tried to drag the child into the bushes, threatening to hurt him if he told anyone what had happened.

This is not a movie. This happened here—in our city.

According to Poznań Police spokesperson Łukasz Paterski, the boy managed to break free and ran home terrified. His mother immediately reported the assault to the police.

“The attacker attempted to pull the boy into the bushes and issued threats to silence him,” said Paterski.
“Thanks to the child’s quick reaction, the worst was avoided.”

A Growing Pattern?

This horrifying case is not an isolated incident. Over the past few months, Poznań has seen a worrying increase in assaults and attempted abductions—many targeting children and teens.

Police say they are treating the case with the utmost seriousness. Officers from the Nowe Miasto Police Station have launched a full investigation. Surveillance footage from nearby cameras is being analyzed to help identify the masked predator.

Increased Patrols Coming to Stare Żegrze

Authorities have also confirmed there will be heightened police presence in the Stare Żegrze estate in the coming weeks to reassure residents and deter further attacks.

But for many families, the damage has been done—trust has been shaken. Parents are now walking their children to the shops, watching their surroundings more closely. Fear has crept into the everyday.

If you have seen anything suspicious in the area or have any information that could help identify the attacker, please contact the Nowe Miasto Police or dial 112 immediately.

This cannot become our new normal. We need answers. We need safety. And above all—we need this man found before he tries again.

UPDATE

It has now been confirmed that the incident never actually took place — the entire story was fabricated by the boy.

“The police took several steps to verify the information provided by the child to his mother,” said Deputy Commissioner Łukasz Paterski of the Poznań Police. “We carefully reviewed CCTV footage, examined the scene, interviewed possible witnesses, and conducted operational activities through our criminal division. All evidence pointed to the fact that no such event occurred.”

Late Thursday evening, the boy’s mother informed officers that her son had admitted to making up the story in an attempt to impress his peers. On Friday, she officially withdrew the report at the police station.
