Jeżyce’s New Booze Ban: Is This Gonna Fix Anything?

So, here’s the latest—Jeżyce councilors just pushed through a resolution that limits alcohol sales between 10 PM and 6 AM. Basically, if you’re looking to grab a beer or bottle to go after dark, forget it. You can only get it at a restaurant or bar or just stock up before 10PM (duh). The ban is a direct hit at the street drinking culture that’s been growing in the area.

It’s the same rule that’s already in play in spots like the Old Town, Lazarus, and Wilda. And just like there, the push for change came straight from the locals, who were fed up with the noise, the mess, and, let’s be real, the street fights fueled by one too many drinks. Public order, safety, and cutting down on disturbances are the main goals, but is this really going to do the trick?

Let’s be honest, when people wanna drink on the streets, they’ll find a way. Maybe fewer people will be popping into Żabka for their late-night beer run, but what’s stopping folks from just bringing it to the park or getting it from somewhere else? Sure, it might clean things up a little, but is it enough to change the vibe of the area?

We’re all for keeping things chill and safe, but it’s hard not to wonder if this resolution is just putting a Band-Aid on a bigger issue. What do you think? Will it actually make a difference, or is this just more noise?
