Old School
We popped into Szewska 19 in the Old Town of Poznań and met with pizzaiolo Marcin, and straight away, you feel like this place is doing something a bit different.

Gusto Pezzi leans more trattoria-style when it comes to the interior. Lots of wood, a slightly old-school feel, nothing overdesigned or trying too hard. And honestly, it’s a refreshing change. With so many “Instagram-first” spots popping up lately — all starting to feel a bit copy-paste — this feels more real. There aren’t many places like this left, but Gusto Pezzi is quietly bringing that vibe back.
We got there just before the full garden opened, but still managed to grab a spot outside — and it’s perfectly positioned to catch those early sun rays. One of those places where you sit down “just for a slice” and suddenly time moves a bit slower.

Now — the pizza.
This is Roman-style pizza — square, not your usual round Neapolitan that dominates the city. And yeah, we were sceptical at first. But don’t let the shape throw you off. This isn’t just “pizza but square” — it’s a completely different style.

The dough is where it wins.
Thin, but not floppy. Light, but with just the right crunch. Crispy edges, airy inside. Honestly, one of the better bases we’ve tried in Poznań. Marcin even told us how he does it… but we’re sworn to secrecy. You’ll have to go and see for yourself.

Menu-wise, they keep it classic with a few twists. You’ll find combinations like:
Parma ham with rukola
Gorgonzola with pear and honey
Salami with mozzarella
Vegetarian options with roasted veg and cheese
Simple, but done properly — and that’s the whole point here.
We came in thinking we’d just grab a slice. That lasted about five minutes. One slice turns into two… and then you’re basically ordering the whole pizza.
This isn’t a flashy place. It’s not trying to go viral. But that’s exactly why it works.

Gusto Pezzi might just be the pizza dark horse of Poznań right now.
If you’re tired of the same polished spots and want something that actually focuses on simplicity, this is it. Go check it out, even if it’s just for one slice.
(You won’t stop at one.)
