Ave. The Jezyce spot turning schnitzel into a cult

Ave is one of the hottest food spots in Jeżyce.

Featured in the Poznan Daily Spring Edition — now available in 100+ cafés, bars, restaurants and hotels around the city — AVE has quickly become one of the hottest food spots in Jeżyce.

For anyone who missed the paper version, we sat down with owners Piotr and Przemysław to talk comfort food, controlled chaos in the kitchen and why schnitzel suddenly feels cool again.

Let’s be honest — is schnitzel soul food, or just nostalgia people are scared to let go of?

It’s both.

Schnitzel is comfort food everybody understands — and that’s exactly why it works. People aren’t constantly searching for fireworks. They want pleasure, familiarity and something that feels safe in the best way possible.

Nostalgia isn’t something you need to escape from. It’s a foundation you can build on — you just have to do it your own way.

That’s why schnitzel keeps coming back at AVE, just in different forms.

So why focus on “simple food” when everyone else is chasing trends?

That’s exactly why we do it. The funny thing is — simple food isn’t simple at all. Real simplicity takes confidence, taste and restraint. Trends change every season. We’d rather make things people genuinely want to come back for. Schnitzel stays. Only the form changes.

Then you drop something like the KIMCHITZEL — pork, kimchi, nori mayo. Genius or controlled madness?

KIMCHITZEL just makes sense to us. It’s not madness and it’s not calculated either. It’s simply who we are. We take something familiar and push it slightly further — enough to surprise people, but still make it craveable, not just photogenic.

Who pushes the boundaries more in the kitchen — shared vision or constant clashes?

The boundaries kind of draw themselves naturally. We definitely share the same vision, but we clash too — and honestly, that’s a good thing. The best ideas usually come from tension. If we agreed on everything, it would get boring fast.

The place was packed from day one. Smart marketing, perfect timing, or did Poznań genuinely need this?

It wasn’t an accident. It’s probably a mix of everything — timing, communication and the fact people genuinely needed a place like this. No pretending. No unnecessary attitude. Just really good food and a vibe that feels real.

Your breakfasts are already pulling crowds. Side project or master plan?

Przemek was already known for breakfasts long before AVE. People kept messaging us about them and waiting for them to come back. At first breakfast was just an addition. Now it’s one of the pillars of the place. People start their day with us — then come back later for schnitzel.

One breakfast everyone has to try?

For Piotr — the shrimp toast, although the avocado, bean and toast combo is catching up fast.

For Przemek — poached eggs with roasted peppers on labneh, topped with coriander and pomegranate.

One dish that defines AVE completely?

Schnitzel.

But not just as a product — more as an idea and what we can do with it.

Jeżyce is full of places trying hard to stand out. What actually makes AVE different?

We don’t try to be different for the sake of it. We’re just consistent. We have our own aesthetic, our own flavour profile and our own way of communicating — and people feel that. That’s why we don’t disappear into the crowd. At the end of the day, authenticity is probably the biggest reason people connect with AVE.

Our Take

In a district overflowing with trendy openings and copy-paste concepts, AVE feels confident without forcing it. No fake luxury, no overcomplicated menu, no trying too hard — just comfort food done properly, with personality.

And honestly? That’s exactly why Jeżyce can’t stop talking about it.
