Hidden in Stary Browar: Why Poznaje Is Poznań’s Next Michelin Contender

Hidden Gem!

If you saw Poznaje from outside, you might think you wandered into a bakery. Don’t panic — you’re in the right place. Just find the stairs and descend into one of Poznań’s culinary secrets. The entrance alone makes it feel like a treasure hunt, and trust us, it’s worth it.

Inside, we sat down with Chef Jarosław Kin who is running the show. This guy’s a heavy hitter with 20 years of experience and a shelf packed with awards. He’s built a menu that’s tight, confident, and all about quality ingredients, so our mouths were already watering before we even got our first drink.

While you’re waiting for your food, you get complimentary fresh bread from the bakery downstairs — plus chałka with a crust, ready to be slathered with delicious cheesy glazed butter and whipped smoked butter with sea salt. A small, tasty starter that sets the tone perfectly. We also ordered some wine to get the evening started!

Right now, the menu is lean but lethal: 4 appetizers, 5 mains, 3 desserts, and every dish hits hard. Quick shoutout to our server — he describes each dish as it lands, giving a little story and insight. Classy touch.

Appetizer: Potato Blin – 50 PLN

Smoked Zawoja trout, velouté sauce, amber cheese, dried egg yolk. Think smoky, silky, cheesy, and slightly earthy all in one bite. The blin itself is pillowy, and the trout adds just enough punch to keep you coming back for more.

Main: Duck Filet – 89 PLN

Comes with dumpling stuffed with jerked duck thigh, beet gratin, mousse of red cabbage, and duck demi-glace. Each bite is rich, slightly sweet from the beet and cabbage mousse, with that deep, savory duck flavor hitting perfectly. Comfort food with a high-class twist.

Main: Dairy Veal Rump – 92 PLN

Served with celery & cauliflower purée, black garlic mayo, veal sauce with greaves and raisins, roasted celery, pine nuts. This one’s a flavor bomb: creamy purée, umami-rich veal sauce, sweet notes from the raisins, and the pine nuts add that perfect crunch. Sophisticated yet approachable.

Dessert: Emilgrana Cheesecake – 38 PLN

English sauce, soy sauce caviar. Silky, creamy, and slightly tangy cheesecake with tiny bursts of umami from the soy caviar. Sweet, savory, and just a little cheeky — impossible to resist.

Yes, Poznaje isn’t cheap, but you get what you pay for — top-drawer quality all around. We wouldn’t be surprised to see it in the next Michelin guide or Gault & Millau Yellow Book 2027. It’s fine dining without the stiff vibes — professional 110%, but chill enough that you won’t feel like you need a tux.

If you’re looking to spoil yourself after a hard day of shopping at Stary Browar… this is the spot. Grab some fresh bread on your way out to take a little piece of Poznaje home with you. Just don’t forget — stairs first, bakery vibes second.
