Dark Secrets in the Church? Abuse Case Heads to Trial

A year after the arrest of Artur Z., the case is now moving forward.

The 48-year-old doctor and a second man, a church organist, also 48, were detained in 2025 and charged with repeated abuse of minors under 15, with allegations dating back to at least 2013. Both had no prior criminal record.

Prosecutors have now officially filed the indictment with the District Court, bringing multiple serious charges, including sexual abuse, grooming, and possession of illegal content. The organist faces additional abuse-related charges. If convicted, they could face 2 to 15 years in prison.

The case has also shaken the local community due to its strong church connection. The doctor was reportedly active in parish life as a lector and altar server, with close family ties to the clergy. Some of the alleged victims were linked to the same church environment, with claims that parts of the abuse took place in restricted areas, including near the organ and even during services!

The court proceedings are set to begin shortly, and we’ll keep you updated as the case unfolds.
