Right here in the heart of the city — and no, we’re not joking — you can live out your inner Legolas or Katniss or medieval fantasy peasant uprising dreams at Leśnik Sports Club (aka “The Forester”). It’s tucked away in Wilda, where the concrete ends and the arrows start flying.

The Backstory

Leśnik’s been around since 1937 — yeah, that’s pre-WWII OG status. It was founded by a couple of State Forests guys who probably got tired of just planting trees and decided to start shooting stuff (responsibly). It’s survived war, relocations, and the collapse of other clubs, absorbing archers like a legendary resistance HQ for bow-lovers.
Now? It’s where generations of Poznań’s finest have trained, competed, and BBQ’d after tournaments (yes, that’s part of the culture).

What Can You Do There?

Whether you’re a total rookie or already practicing to take down apples from 20m, Leśnik’s got your back. Here’s the breakdown:

Sports Archery

If you want that Olympic-level stance and swagger, this is where it’s at. They train kids, juniors, seniors — and their coaches are certified by the Polish Archery Association.
Indoor training when it’s freezing, outdoor field at ul. Urbanowska 41 when the sun’s out.
No gear? No problem. They’ll hook you up with the right bow (trust us, don’t buy one yourself until they’ve sized you up).

Traditional Archery

This is for all you Robin Hood-core fans, LARP enthusiasts, and medieval nerds.
We’re talking longbows, no sights, and historical costumes. Sometimes there’s a whole vibe with folks dressed like it’s 1324 and firing arrows like they’re defending a kingdom. Glorious chaos.

Recreational Archery

You just wanna chill, hit some targets, maybe laugh when your friend’s arrow misses wildly?
This is your zone. Come for the stress relief, stay for the post-shooting BBQs and vibes. Anyone can join — seriously, no cape or six-pack needed.

Bonus Round: Air Gun Section

They even have a side hustle with pellet air guns. If you want to learn how to shoot without needing a permit — safely, legally, and without drama — they’ll teach you. Great for families or folks into quiet precision-type hobbies.

Who Can Shoot?

Literally (almost) anyone.
Ages 10+ is the recommended starting point, but younger kids with talent? Welcome.
You don’t need to be fit, fast, or flexible. Just wear comfy clothes that won’t get caught in the bowstring, and maybe leave the Jedi robe at home until week two.

When and Where?

April–October: Outdoor training at Urbanowska 41, weekdays from 17:00–19:00
Bad weather? No stress — there’s an indoor hall nearby
Weekends? Follow their Facebook group for updates (and sometimes BBQ announcements)

Right next to Cytadela Park — and if you’re really about that vibe life, take the scenic route and stroll from the Old Market Square. It’s just 2 km away, perfect for a pre-archery power walk (or dramatic entrance).
