Poznań Daily Meets Monika from Energology. The Queen of Aerobox

At Poznan Daily, we’ve been checking out gyms all over the city—but Energology caught our attention. Tucked away in a loft-style space in Rataje, it radiates raw energy, community, and authenticity. What really drew us in? The woman behind it all: Monika. Her journey from frustrated gym-goer to founder of one of the most vibe-heavy fitness studios in town had us hooked. We had to sit down with her and find out more.

Let’s rewind to 2016—what was going through your head when your husband joked you were “getting a little plump around the edges”? Did you ever think it would lead to opening your own studio?
Oh, I was furious! But that lit a fire in me. I found a gym near home, bought a pass, and just started going—every day. Then came a healthy diet, and I achieved more than I imagined. Eventually, I became a trainer, worked across Poznań, and noticed how many people didn’t feel comfortable in typical gyms. That’s when the idea for Energology was born—a space where everyone could feel at home.

What’s something people might be surprised to learn about you outside of fitness?
Psychology really fascinates me—it ties into my personal training work. But maybe more surprising? I’m obsessed with dog behavior. I also love adrenaline—skydiving is my thing. And I get so much joy from working with kids and teens. Their energy is next level.

You decorated the studio yourself—what vibe were you going for? And any DIY fails along the way?
The space had that industrial, raw loft feel—concrete and steel—and I instantly knew it was perfect. I wanted it to feel real, not overly polished. People say, “this place feels like you,” which is the best compliment. As for fails? I’m only 155 cm tall, so even on a platform I couldn’t reach the ceiling to paint the motivational quotes I wanted. They’re still not there—but one day, they will be!

Aeroboxing sounds intense—what makes it a fan favorite at Energology?
It’s a mix of boxing to music, cardio, and full-body training—but the real magic is in the emotions. You get to release stress, scream, punch, dance, and leave feeling powerful. The girls say they feel like warriors after class—and that’s exactly the point.

What’s your favorite class to teach? And which one kicks your butt?
Balance is my soul-soother—it brings me peace. But for full-body burn and energy, I love Aerobox and Fat Burning. The hardest for me? Foam rolling. It hurts—but it’s necessary, so I do it anyway.

Biggest client transformation you’ve seen?
Anyone who used to crash on the couch after work and now shows up regularly is a huge win. For me, that’s a powerful transformation.

Would you say Energology is a gym—or something more?
Definitely more. It’s a space for support, inspiration, and positive change. We’re building a community that grows together—physically and mentally.

If Energology were a cocktail, what would be in it?
Fresh lemon juice for a kick, ginger for power, honey for warmth, a touch of mint to calm things down. That’s us: energy, sweetness, strength, and balance.

Be honest—how clean do you eat, and what’s your go-to cheat meal?
I don’t do daily cheat meals—it’s all about balance. I eat what I crave but in healthier versions. I love cheese, bread, sweets… but I’ve learned they make me feel sluggish. So I ask—if food leaves me feeling low, is it really a treat?

What music gets you hyped to teach a class?
It changes daily. Sometimes Metallica, sometimes Tiësto. Other days it’s Phil Collins or Ellie Goulding. It’s all about the group’s vibe and energy.

Do people ever fake working out just to check themselves out in the mirror?
That’s more of a big gym thing. Here, people come to feel good—not to show off. It’s about authenticity.

What fitness myth do you wish people would stop believing?
That weight training makes women look “too masculine.” It’s just not true. Strength training tightens the body, boosts metabolism, and supports long-term health. It’s one of the best things women can do for themselves.

And finally—for anyone reading this thinking “I need to try this place”—what’s the easiest way to sign up?
