Japanese cocktails in Poznan are not just drinks that were invented in Japan… Nor does its definition come from the ingredients that go into the glass… A cocktail can only truly be ‘Japanese’ if it reflects the broader sense of harmony and interconnectedness that defines Japanese culture at large.

Born and raised in Japan, Daisuke Maki runs the 10-seater Haikara which is a Japanese restaurant in Jezyce held in high esteem by his fellow restauranteurs! Specialising in Japanese Curry, it has one of the most unique menus we have seen in a long time. It also has Japanese Cocktails!

With 10 mouth-watering cocktails currently on offer, you are spoiled for choice! Stirring, measuring, shaking and preparing drinks with precision, owner Daisuke Maki will introduce you to Japanese cocktails, when paired with one of his delicious dishes, you won’t find a better experience in Poznan. We have some favorites below we wanted to share with you. First up is the Kamikaze. Named after a branch of the Japanese navy, although it was born in the US. Vodka, sweet white curacao and sour lime on ice. The second cocktail on the right is the Yuzu Sour. Have you ever heard of CHU-HI? It’s a popular drink in Japan made with fruit and alcohol. Their Yuzu Sour relates to this tradition, combining vodka, which is a traditional drink of Poles, with Japanese yuzu jam juice. They add a pinch of mint and a splash of sparkling water. This drink is the quintessential Haikara – a wonderful fusion of cultures!

The next two are for Matcha lovers. On the left you have Matcha Tiramisu. In Japan, tiramisu has gained a new face as Matcha Tiramisu. They have taken it a step further, turning this well-known dessert into a unique cocktail. They mix cognac, juice milk, kuromitsu (brown sugar syrup), creamy mascarpone, and cream to finish everything off with a sprinkling of fine matcha. The result is genius! On the right is their Matcha Beer with a blend of traditional Japanese beer and matcha tea. Delicious!

The beautiful Yuzu Mojito on the left below hails from the bustling streets of Havana, the Mojito is a renowned cocktail that is prepared in countless ways. It’s traditionally drunk to survive the summer Yuku juice, adding freshness and an unmistakable Japanese note. Last but not least, is the Seiryu. An invigorating combination of sake with hints of lemon and lime. We love it! Dont just take our word for it though, go and try our recommendations for yourselves or try another cocktail from the menu.
