On Saturday, July 6, a tragic incident occurred at Lake Niedzięgiel in Skorzęcin just outside Poznan, resulting in the untimely death of a 17-year-old girl. The teenager, hailing from Kalisz, was enjoying the lake with her friends when the incident took place.
Around 15:50, local police received an alarming report. The group had been swimming and using a water bike when, for reasons still unknown, the girl disappeared beneath the water’s surface and did not resurface. WOPR rescuers quickly responded and pulled the unconscious girl ashore. Despite their best efforts and a prolonged resuscitation attempt, they were unable to revive her.
The Police Poviat Command in Gniezno confirmed the sad news: “Unfortunately, a 17-year-old resident of the Kalisz poviat could not be saved.” The police, under the supervision of a prosecutor from Słupca, are currently investigating the circumstances and causes of this heartbreaking tragedy.
