Our favorite new neighborhood Wine Bar in Poznan for 2023!

Did you know that Al Brindisi dates back to 1435 and is recognized as the oldest enoteca (wine bar) in the world in the Guinness Book of World Records? Ala ma wino might not be the first wine bar in the world but it’s certainly one of the newest since it opened its doors in July 2023. Located in Poznan on Niemena 7a Street, it’s the only wine bar we know of on the eastern side of the Warta River.

The place can best be described as a neighborhood wine bar where many of the locals come for wine from the surrounding blocks in bathrobes, without makeup, totally relaxed, for a quick glass of wine after work, and a chat with a bottle at the bar. It’s a place where owner, Ala, thrives and has been humbled by its early success. With her generous personality and friendly smile, she says she has made dozens of new friends already. Something that probably wouldn’t happen if located in the city center. It’s what makes this place special.

The wines of course take center stage but the breakfasts are mini masterpieces also. Served only on the weekends between 10:30 and 15:00 you can expect such genius as Sourdough bread with ricotta, and on top of that broad beans, and sugar snap peas are sprinkled with lemon. The whole mixture combined with olive oil guarantees an unforgettable experience for the taste buds. Amazing! Or how about French toast on brioche with Polish berry mousse, granola, fluffy chantilly cream, and roasted pistachios? Delicious!

The menu changes from time to time as they feel their way but certainly ask about our favorite. Brioche with whipped feta, a fried egg, and asparagus fried in butter, then everything is topped with a white wine-based hollandaise sauce, and the finish is completed with caramelized almonds with chilies. OMG!

When it comes to what’s on the shelves Ala makes sure you are well looked after. There must always be a delicate French pink for Ania, a strong, tarry, and long-barrelled red for the master from the last cage, shiraz for Anton, good bubbles for Larysa and Ala, and Rioja for Sandra. We have our favorites too. We recommend you ask about the Adaras Lluvia. An aromatic combination of Sauvignon Blanc and Verdejo. Organic, vegan, super fresh, and light. Will make many a warm evening pleasant thats for sure!

You should also try the Pierre Brevin Rose d’ Anjou. A light pink wine scented with fruit – strawberry, raspberry, and Mirabelle. It stands out with a delicate sweetness in the background alternating with refreshing light acidity. Ideal with their goat and sheep cheeses and of course olives!

Last but not least if you are lucky they will still have their two organic novelties. Parajes del Valle is a bright, new, exciting winery, established as recently as 2018. From Day One their wines have been in the young but experienced hands of Maria Jover, a 28-year-old winemaker located in DO Manchuela which is a large area in the center of Spain, east of Cuenca and Albacete. On a tasting note expect bright, clean, and crisp white fruit on the nose with yellow apple, crunchy pear, and a bit of ripe green citrus. The palate is super clean and fresh with heaps of upfront acidity, lime, and crisp yellow apple. There is a subtle floral note at the back and a little softer pear and melon. Together with their goat cheese sandwiches and olives, you have perfection. Absolutely mouthwatering! Dont just take our word for it though. Pay Ala a visit and try our recommendations for yourselves or maybe she will surprise you with something new. We have even added an interactive map below so there is no excuse! You can thank us later!
